Using with Microsoft Education

If your school district uses Microsoft Education / Microsoft Entra (Azure AD), these additional steps should be taken when you launch your Appazur mobile app:

Also, consider these possible integrations:

Microsoft Single Sign On (SSO)

Microsoft Entra Single Sign On is an option for Appazur branded school apps, Hall Pass, and Digital Signage.

This allows staff and/or students to sign in using their usual district credentials instead of having to set a password for the app. Appazur does not access any personal information other than name and email address, and requests only the minimal permissions to do so.

Testing

Please be sure to test the option to sign in using school district Microsoft credentials. If students and staff are on different email domains, please be sure to test both a student and a staff sign in. Be sure to test a staff account for someone who is not an Azure administrator.

Potential Issues

If staff or students are unable to sign in using Microsoft, it is often due to a district Microsoft policy option in the Azure Portal. Please see the next section. A workaround is to choose “Do not use Microsoft” when prompted, and then sign in like a parent and set an app password.

Check Permissions in Azure

Browse to:

Azure Portal > Dashboard > Enterprise Applications > Consent and permissions

Depending on the settings discussed below, users may not be able to sign in unless an Azure administrator consents on behalf of the organization. We recommend choosing a setting below that avoids this. If an administrator does not to consent on behalf of the organization, she/he can do so by signing in to the iOS or Android app and selecting that option on the permissions prompt. You can also consent, or see any granted permissions, at:

Azure Portal > Dashboard > Enterprise Applications > All > (your district name) App by Appazur

On the User consent settings page, check which option has been configured:

User consent settings

If you have the 3rd option, “Allow user consent for apps”, you’re all set.

If you have the 1st option, “Do not allow user consent”, please contact Appazur Support.

If you have the 2nd option, “All users can consent for permissions classified as low impact, for apps from verified publishers”, please make sure that “low impact” has been defined. Click Permission classifications and ensure that all 5 checkboxes are selected:
