This video explains how a student uses the hall pass app. In this example, we’re using a school app designed for Orchard View Schools. If your school district or school has a different school app, or if you are using the “Hall Pass by Appazur” app, it will work the same way. The video shows the iPhone app, but it is similar on iPad, Android, or Chromebooks.
The first time you open the app, you’ll be prompted to sign in. You should sign in using your Google or Microsoft account provided by your school district. You will only have to do this once.
To use the Hall Pass feature, tap the Hall Pass icon which is to the right of the User Settings icon and below the Help icon.
To ask your teacher for a hall pass, first pick your destination, then choose how long you need to leave the classroom for, and finally, ask your teacher to authorize it.
Your teacher has a QR Code (like a bar code) either on their device or printed on a piece of paper. Tap scan and point your camera at the QR Code. When it reads the QR Code, the app will return to the form and you’ll see that the authorization code is filled in.
Alternatively, the teacher can type in the authorization code. Finally, tap Issue Hall Pass. The hall pass will have a green background until the time runs out, at which time it will turn red. The remaining time is shown.
Both the student and the teacher receive a push notification when the pass is issued, and when the time expires.
When you return to the classroom, it is important to tap the End button.
You do not need to stay in the app. If you have to show your Hall Pass to a teacher, the hall pass screen will come up automatically when you open the app again.
That’s all there is to it, from the student’s perspective. Teachers and Administrators can learn more here: Dashboard > Help > Hall Pass.
The Hall Pass feature is not intended for use by students 13 years of age or younger.
