Do you need a native mobile app for iOS and Android, or just mobile-optimized website or Progressive Web Application (PWA)?
The most important thing to know is that you need a native mobile app if you want push notifications on iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch). Apple does not support web push on iOS.
Some ways an app can add value:
- Push Notifications (users may be overwhelmed with email - get through the noise and avoid the spam folder)
- Offline access to information (connect with parents and students on the move with wi-fi tablets, slow connections/out-of-range, etc.)
- Deep device integration (social media sharing, calendar, reminders, etc.)
