District Dashboard

Overview

The District Dashboard only applies to school districts that have more than one branded/customized school app, i.e. one for each school.

Your District Dashboard is for use by school district communications staff for the following purposes:

  1. Sending messages via all school apps in the district, either to everyone, or to groups (e.g. bus routes).
  2. District-wide staff communication.
  3. Sending messages to parents throughout the district, via voice calls, SMS texts, and app notifications, based on SIS student contact data (requires Mass Notification option).
  4. Distributing district content to digital signage screens throughout the district, optionally temporarily overriding all school content.
  5. Links to school App Dashboards

It’s easy to navigate between the District Dashboard and each school’s App Dashboard, as there are links for each school on the home page of the District Dashboard.

Messaging

The Messages screen is for sending messages via all school apps in the district. This will reach everyone who has installed any of the school apps, or who has opted in to email or SMS text messaging.

To send a Message to everyone, e.g. for a snow day, go to Messages > Add, and under Which groups should receive this message?, select “All Schools”.

You can also have groups to target specific parents, students and/or staff, such as a group for each bus route.

Any messages entered here will also appear in each school App Dashboard, with “District” in the Sender column.

Staff Messaging

To reach all staff across all schools, simply add a message as above, and under Which groups should receive this message?, select “Staff - All Schools”.

Mass Notification

Mass Notification is available as an option for District Dashboards (as well as school App Dashboards).

With this option, your District Dashboard allows authorized staff to send district-wide messages as recorded or text-to-speech voice, SMS text, email, and app push notifications. This allows you to reach parents who do NOT have the apps, using your SIS parent/guardian contact information.

Unlike other systems that may use voice recordings only for phone calls, Appazur mobile app push notifications, SMS texts, and emails all include recorded voice attachments in addition to the text of the messages.

Groups, such as all families for bus routes, can also be synced up with your SIS information.

Digital Signage

There are two use cases for this:

  1. Show district content on all screens, district-wide, in rotation with locally-managed school slides.
  2. Temporary override of all screens, district-wide, for emergencies, snow days, etc.

Typically, you may want to create your digital signage content (“Slides”) in advance. Then, when needed, edit the Slide in the District Dashboard, and check the Show checkbox. This will cause the Slide to be included across all buildings.

If you check the Override School Slides checkbox, screens may immediately update, and show only this Slide for up to 24 hours. Any school Slides will be pre-empted. You can either set an End Time, or manually remove the Slide when no longer needed by unchecking the Show checkbox.
